About us

The I forgot to retire! international community is for people who don’t want to live out their final years from the sidelines. It’s for people who know they still have a contribution to make, a journey to travel, an adventure to be had and want to make the most of the resources they have in the time they have left.

Our community is based on mutual respect and a shared vision to support, encourage and inspire each other in whatever we choose to be, have and do in our significant 60’s, 70’s and beyond.

The Mission

Mission: To provide opportunities and a safe space for people over 55  to connect, be inspired, gain support,  get clear and get active on completing long held dreams or creating and fulfilling new ones.

The Name

Remeber the T-shirts of some 30 years ago which were emblazed with the words “I forgot to have children”  or “I forgot to get married.”  They were such a clever way of rebuking the ‘expected’ behaviour of a certain age group.     So with the joyful spirit of humour and rebelliousness  the I forgot to retire! name was registered!

Our story

About the founder

I have had the priviledge of working locally and internationally  with thousands of men and women over a career of 40 years in the fields of coaching, facilitation, personal and professional development.

As I started to approach traditional ‘retirement’ age I became more and more convinced that the rocking chair could wait!

I started to reflect on questions like “what would I most enjoy doing in the time I have left on this beautiful planet?  How could I bring together all the many threads of learning and experience I have had into a project that would be of value and service to others?  How could I best continue to contribute?

From these reflections the IFTR community was born! I trust you will find and connect with many inspiring people and resources and that together we can and will continue to make a difference to ourselves, our families, friends and communities.  Best wishes always.
